Phillip L. Block
 

Phillip L. BlockPhil has been a photographer for over 30 years. His fascination with photography started in high school, wihen he received a Montgomery Wards 35mm rangefinder camera as a gift.

Using this camera and lots of Kodachrome film, he photographed much of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula during his college years at Michigan Technological University (MTU). Phil earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration at MTU.

For over twenty years starting in the early '80s, Phil focused primarily on the historic lighthouses of the Western Great Lakes. His Lightstations.Com gallery and public slide show Lights of the Lakes was the result. Lights of the Lakes has been presented almost 60 times since 1989, and has been seen by over 3,000 people. Phil has been a member of the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association (GLLKA) since 1985.

An aspiring professional photographer, Phil is currently enrolled in the Professional Photography course at New York Institute of Photography and has also taken photography classes at Concordia University of Wisconsin. He is actively affiliated with two southeast Wisconsin photo enthusiast groups: the Menomonee Falls Camera Club and Riveredge Nature Center Photographers Anonymous group.

Vocationally, Phil is a technical communications professional. His background includes web site design, technical writing, and marketing communications.

Proof that "the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree," Dale has inherited his Dad's love of photography and is a talented artist in his own right. In the future, we plan to add some of Dale's work to this site.
