Shown against the dramatic Chicago skyline, it is located at the end of a small pier south of Navy Pier. It helps sailors find the locks built at the mouth of the Chicago River. |

The Chicago Harbor Southeast Guidewall Light was built in 1938 and is 30 feet tall. Since an engineering project actually changed the direction that the Chicago River flows, passing through these locks is necessary to gain entry to the river. |
