Also known as Cape Neddick Light Station, Nubble
Light takes its name from the rocky island ("nubble") upon which it was built
in 1879. The brick tower, sheathed with iron plating, is 41 feet high and
contains a Fourth Order Fresnel lens. The area is lashed with cold winds that
can reach 100 miles per hour. This is the southernmost light on the Maine
coast. |
