Fourteen Foot Shoal Light

Off Cheboygan, Michigan

Lake Michigan

Fourteen Foot Shoal Light, constructed in 1930, marks a dangerous shoal near the entrance to Cheboygan Harbor. This light was never manned, and was designed to be controlled by radio signals from nearby Poe Reef Light. It represented an early attempt at automating an offshore light. The steel-framed tower stands 25 feet above lake level.
