The mouth of the Cheboygan River marks the starting point for ferries to Bois Blanc Island and is the home port of the ice breaker Mackinaw. Cheboygan Crib Light was once situated offshore near the mouth of the Cheboygan River. The original cassion foundation deteriorated to the point that the light collapsed and fell into the water. The 25' foot high octagonal steel tower was rescued and relocated in 1986 to its present location on a pier on the west bank of the Cheboygan River, in Gordon Turner Park. It was originally built in 1884. |
