If you are willing to walk a mile and a half north along the beach from Ludington State Park, you can visit Big Sable Point Light. Periodic tours are scheduled, if you want to get inside the structure. For further information, contact the Big Sable Point Lighthouse Association, P.O. Box 673, Ludington, MI 49431.

The original Third Order fresnel lens is displayed at the Rose Hawley Museum in downtown Ludington, Michigan. The top picture shows the view from the tower looking southward along the Lake Michigan shoreline. A modern steel light structure is at left. Compare its size with the canoe on the ground.

For those interested in offbeat views, be warned of reports emanating from a meeting of the 28th Mutual UFO Network, which state that there is a secret "alien underwater weapons storage base" in Lake Michigan near Big Sable Point. Apparently, the secrecy of this base has been well-kept, as few people have every heard even rumors of it!
