Grand Island Harbor Light

aka Grand Island East Channel Light

Near Munising, Michigan, USA

Lake Superior

This ghostly-looking wooden lighthouse, although still fragile, has been partially rebuilt in recent years. The tower is reinforced with cables installed on the inside, and the foundation has been strengthened. Once an important aid to navigation, this light was made obsolete by the construction of the Munising Range Lights. It was built in 1863 and automated in 1913 when the Munising Range Lights were put into service.
