Copper Harbor Front Range Light

Copper Harbor, Michigan, USA

Lake Superior

The Copper Harbor Front Range Light is located on the mainland east of the tiny village of Copper Harbor, Michigan. It was built to help guide mariners through the hazardous and rocky waters in the area.

Range lights were originally constructed here in the 1840s. The present steel structure shown here was built in 1869.

The front light, shown here, is about a hundred yards north of the rear light, which is mounted in a lantern room on the second floor of what was once the keeper's dwelling. This building is now used by Fort Wilkins State Park staff.
