There you stand on that windy hill So proud and stately you are. All who see you get a thrill As they come from near and far. So silent and alone you stand So much of the past you know. In days of old you were always manned But, now, alone you must go. If only you could tell us The stories of your life. 'Twould really be something to discuss. With tales of success and strife. Through the darkness nightly, Ships on the seaway view Your beautiful lamp so brightly Flashing safety signals from you. You guide them safely past the shoals, Over the pounding sea So they may always reach their goal At journey's end, where they must be. You guide them through the sun and storm. Whatever the weather may be. They know they will be safe and warm When you are there to see. Oh, lighthouse, you bring romance to all! We can't stay away from you. We are ever at your beck and call To you, we'll always be true. You've stood there for over 100 years And we hope for hundreds more As we relax and calm our fears When we sit upon your shores. So thank you, dear lighthouse, For the happiness you bring. Your gleaming light no man must douse For it makes our hearts to sing. |
