Chambers Island Lighthouse

Door County, Wisconsin, USA

Lake Michigan

The passage into Green Bay is well marked with lighthouses. This is Chambers Island Light, which is on the west side of this rocky island. It was built in 1868, and had a range of sixteen miles. In 1961, the lighthouse became obsolete when the steel tower you see on the right was built. Although the new tower is thirty feet higher than the old lighthouse, the new light has a range of only twelve miles.

The Chambers Island Light is open for tours during the summer months. One room is set aside as a museum and exhibit area.
