Visions is a
self-help, job-seeking group. Members are expected to maintain regular
attendance for self-help and group support. Skill-related topics of
interest to the group are scheduled each week, to enhance knowledge
and develop job-seeking skills.
- Accountability
- Attendance, preparation, active participation in the weekly group
meeting, and volunteering to facilitate a meeting and topic.
- Confidentiality
- "What is said in the group stays in the group!" This
also applies to job leads provided through the network.
- Partnering
- Each group member supports one or more other members through a
pledge of partnership. A weekly contact is one way of providing
job-search support.
- Rotating Leadership
- Each week a member volunteers to facilitate the next weekly
meeting and/or present the selected topic.
- Weekly Job-Search Report
- Each member reviews telephone calls, letters, and interviews
completed the previous week.
- Calls: Job-related phone
contacts and messages
- Letters: Number of
letters mailed (all types)
- Interviews: In-person
meetings and job interviews
- Cost
- A $1 donation is requested at each meeting.
- Graduates
- Upon accepting a job offer, the members traditionally celebrates
by bringing a "treat!"
